Purpose of the residency
Tokyo, will be my subject matter: a springboard for visual/conceptual abstraction. In hours of darkness, I'll trial extremely long exposures of atmospheric locations in order to capture the changing character of nature, architecture, abundant electricity and the night sky: celebrating Tokyo through abusutorakushon.
Plan during the residency
For abusutorakushon, I will make an ambitious series of films derived from experimental filmmaking across the physical, futuristic urban landscape of Tokyo - from dusk/twilight hours, into the night and through to dawn: focusing on further developing a visual language of abstraction using 16mm film, employing multiple exposure, stop-frame animation and time-lapse techniques.
