Purpose of the residency
EIC is an international platform where artists and designers explore the technical and artistic possibilities of the tradition and knowledge of craft and specialized manufacturing worldwide. Our goal is to provide interaction between fast moving technology and production, and traditional craft by merging traditional techniques with contemporary practice through collaboration. Our purpose of stay is to research the possibilities and further develop ideas for a Swedish-Japanese collaboration.
Plan during the residency
OPEN STUDIO 2009
During our stay we plan to visit Tokyo based traditional craft and small industries as well as innovative companies with traditional quality. At the same time we plan to deepen our research on contemporary Japanese art and design through studio visits, galleries and meeting with professionals in the field.
