Purpose of the residency
To make contact with young Japanese artists whose work I have discovered in books and magazines abroad, artists whose works seems to resonate with trends in young contemporary art coming out of America and Europe. Discover new young Japanese artists. Interview artists. Investigate young Japanese artists' relationships with their peers abroad. Quantify the impact made in Japan by the current boom in independent artists book publishing. Develop an exhibition proposal based on my findings.
