Holding of an open symposium "Creative Dialogue and Commitment to the Environment"

文プロロゴ.jpg

Tokyo Wonder Site is an art center that provides a forum for projects and activities that examine the issue of how artists and creators can get involved with the various challenges faced by the modern society. In FY2009, we will put the spotlight on environmental issues, and carry out a project transcending across the fields of environment, art and education. The project will comprise exhibitions and collaborative studio programs (workshops) with the environment as the main theme. Amid growing concerns over the climate change crisis caused by globa1 warming, this project will tackle a myriad of issues, including how individuals engaged in art and culture can get involved with environmental problems, what sort of contributions they can make, and how they should communicate these issues to young people, who will lead the next generation.

As part of this project and the Tokyo Culture Creation Project, we will hold an open symposium as outlined below. The symposium will feature lectures by experts who will address the most up-to-date environmental issues, as well as reports on diverse activities that combine art and environment and are implemented using drifted waste. Through this symposium we will tackle the issues of art and environment from both global and local perspectives.
