Hiroaki Takaha has graduated from the Toho Gakuen School of Music in 2001 and has studied under Kazuo Mise, Atsuhiko Gondai and Edith Lejet.  He is winner for the 68th Music Competition of Japan in the category of Composition.  He receives commissions from the Venice Biennial and the Kanagawa Arts Foundation, and his musical pieces have been performed by the prominent artists such as New Arts String Quartet, Ensemble Nomad, Promusica Nipponia, Tokyo Philharmonic Chorus, Hiroaki Ooi, Ayako Shinozaki, Takayoshi Wanami, etc.

About works / performance

Takaha recently works on the pieces composed of Japanese instruments and languages to trace his own roots while he pursues his original contemporary expressions in European Music.   He plays an active role in piano playing and conducting as well; from 2010 he directs Ensemble Muromachi, which works on a collaboration of Japanese and Baroque instruments (http://ensemblemuromachi.blog116.fc2.com), as conductor.
