Bahbak Hashemi-Nezhad (b. 1979, Birmingham, UK) graduated from the Design Products program at the Royal College of Art in 2008, soon after establishing a cross-disciplinary practice that produces work ranging from public interventions, interior spaces, recipes, furniture to photography, and products. Recent projects include facilitating the sharing of aubergine recipes amongst a community in the face of change (London Festival of Architecture), designing a concept hotel room (Lloyd Hotel, Amsterdam), aiding gallery visitors to construct, document and consume their creations (Architecture Association, London), musical hammers (YAMAHA), and leading design seminars in collaboration with students of Westminster Academy and the Serpentine Gallery. As well as working with both art institutions and industry, Hashemi-Nezhad teaches at prominent academies including the Royal College of Art, Central Saint Martins, and London College of Communication. He is the recipient of the Asialink international bursary and is currently undertaking a commission through the Showroom gallery, London.
About works / performance
Often working with(in) the public realm, where design outcomes are open to take the form of products, spaces, food and images. These are informed reactions and by-product of visible and invisible systems at play.
