Michael Gieler, born in Austria, is currently the first violist of the Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest
in Amsterdam. After studying violin and viola at Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, he made a profound study at Wiener Philharmoniker and was awarded the Herbert von Karajan Scholarship. He is also a professor at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
