Profile

Yin-Hua Chu, an exchanging artist from Taipei Artist Village, is currently conducting research at the Centre for Research and Education in Art and Media, University of Westminster, London. Chu's photographic works "A Taste of Taipei" and "Ways of Moving" were exhibited at the Taiwan Museums of Fine Art, for its 2008 Biennale.

About works / performance

So far I have been looking around in the city Tokyo, participating different art activities, talking to local people and friends, experimenting different ways of working on the project 'Guided Memories'. I have already collected relative informations and materials. This project will start a dialogue between Tokyo, Taipei and Paris.

In the PhD thesis ‘Staging Memories: Mise en scène Imagined Cities in Photographic Practices’, I investigate how the concept of mise en scène can address the issues of memories in cities, and how photographic mise en scène intervenes in the process of translation between physical and psychical images.
