Profile

Born in 1991. Graduated from Maastricht Academy of fine arts and design, Netherlands (Bachelor of Jewelry design) in 2014. Enrolled in MAD (Materialization in Art and Design) a postgraduate study program at Sandberg Instituut Amsterdam.

Comment

My work operates on the cutting edge of research, material, craft, and form. Trained as a Jewelry designer, for years, I have experimented with various applications of materials.


Reoccurring, core subjects of my artistic practice are: the value of ‘findings’, materiality, heterogeneity and the artist’s control.

Searching has always been the most important part of my working process. It can be described as a combination of systematic research with findings resulting from chance.


Another important aspect of my artistic practice is the method and act of displaying objects. The ‘exhibition’-context makes it possible to see an object as it is, and gives (art) objects/ commodities the opportunity to appear beyond a specific exchange- and use-value. The specific combination of different pieces and the way they are arranged creates an outline for the possible meaning of the presentation. This associative aspect is of great importance to me.
