About works / performance

Popular Media and mediated reality form a major part of my investigation. Besides my  academic research of the image of Beirut in Lebanese Pop-action films produced during the war period, I have been recently working with other pop media, like neon signage in the suburbs, comic book covers, discontinued popular toys, school book covers and illustrations. The photo series "Somethings Cannot Be Made in China" looks at the surface details of banal consumer products in an attempt to transcend economic transactions. It delves deep to extreme details in an attempt to show novelty in the interaction between consumer and product.

Comment

Investigating types and levels of mediation in reality is integral to my work as well as attempting to de-kitsch or un-kitsch pop media.
