Pablo Alonso, born in Gijón, Spain in 1969, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Kassel. He now lives and works in Berlin. He has participated in various exhibitions such as Pinturazombi, held in 2009 at the Galería Bacelos Gallery in Vigo, Spain.

Comment

Pablo Alonso brings the brutality of historic models and symbols or images from current media events onto the canvas in a painterly collage. The paintings are largely black and white, which gives the artist and the beholder some distance to these quite oppressive images, so that rather than overwhelming us, it becomes possible to reflect on the subject matter.
