Second Term : October 26 (Sat) - November 17 (Sun)

■Opening Talk 10.26 (Sat) 14:00- *Japanese only
Guest: Minoru Hatanaka (Senior Curator, NTT International Communication Center [ICC])

Mari Ohno "acoustic cluster"

This work is an installation that amplifies, develops, and constructs the sound exposed by cutting off space physically. The acoustic characteristic varies by the physical transformation of space and the "howling" sound generated in the space also varies depending on the acoustic characteristic. The concept is based on that "space" is sound materials and "transformation of space" is musical playing and this work tries to give the visitors a specific listening experience with the musical structure.

TEAM YAMEYO "Zatsuon yameyo"

Since the dead never speaks, any noise can be regarded as evidence of life. In this sense, noisy societies express rich life forces. This project is aimed to generate a space where "noise" echoes as living sound, and attempts to reverse the notion of noise in a form of visual and audio installation.

10.27 (Sun) 13:00- Artist Talk

[Profile]
The more matured our social and personal relationships become, the more things we cannot stop doing even though we all know we should quit it. The members of TEAM YAMEYO ("yameyo"="let's stop") realized this mechanism is what mainly causes the erosion of society, and declared "things we want to but cannot abandon" as a central theme of their artistic endeavors. Previous exhibitions include "14th Taro Okamoto Contemporary Art Prize" (Taro Okamoto Museum of Art, Kawaski, 2011), "6th Emerging Artist Support Program" (Tokyo Wonder Site Hongo, 2012).

---------------------------------------------------

China Blue "8Bit Cricket"

The "8Bit Cricket" is an active, interactive and reactive work based on the idea of the emergence of new biological forms created from waste from disasters, manufacturing and obsolescent technology. This exhibition consists of electronic crickets in cages scattered on a synthetic grass carpet. The visitors with flash lights will be able to modulate their song to restore a sense of hope that seems to be lacking in a physically isolating world through their participation.
