Emerging Artist Support Program 2008

Emerging Artists Support Program 2008:Right after its opening in 2001, Tokyo Wonder Site launched the "TWS-Emerging" series with the aim to foster young creators. In addition to this program for artists, a support program for aspiring planners (curators) was implemented in 2006, inviting young exhibition organizers to apply with concrete plans for art shows.

"Zabuton-race" introduces the attempts of seven artists to evoke new images by combining in unusual ways information obtained through careful observations of daily life.
Their art takes on a variety of forms, including painting, sculpture, installation, video and writing. Participating are not only creators from the current art scene, but also VJs, DJs, and artists working with multiple media ranging from performance to design and illustration among others.
In the discrepancies between oddly arranged sceneries involving commodities and personal devices, and these items' original meanings, the viewer might find hints at how to survive in the information jungle of contemporary society.
(Organizer: Mitsuoki (Misao Ushijima and Umi Nakajima))
